Mercedes-Benz India 2026: 12 Launches, One Clear Direction

A note on figures: Prices and specs confirmed by the manufacturer are stated directly. Anything ahead of an official India launch is marked "expected" — an industry estimate, not a confirmed number.

Where BMW is playing volume, Mercedes-Benz India is playing a different game. Twelve launches in 2026, chosen with surgical intent: top-end vehicles, high-range EVs, and software-first experiences. "2026 will be an action-packed year," said Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, "with 12 new product introductions, expansion of local production, and the launch of MB.Charge Public."

The MB.Charge network now covers over 9,000 public chargers across India — a moat that makes range anxiety largely irrelevant for city-to-city travel. The other telling number: over 80% of Mercedes buyers in India now opt for MANUFAKTUR personalisation. That is not volume-market behaviour. Mercedes is building its 2026 lineup for buyers who know exactly what they want.

Mercedes CLA EV — 792 km and a New Software Brain

The CLA EV is built on the all-new MMA architecture — an EV-first platform — and claims a WLTP range of 792 km from an 85 kWh battery. More importantly, it debuts MB.OS, Mercedes' new in-house operating system that replaces years of third-party software patchwork. Think of it as Mercedes finally owning its own digital stack. The coupe-like silhouette carries the CLA's character; the rear seat, as ever, concedes something to style.

G-Class Cabriolet — Because Why Not

The G-Class Cabriolet doesn't need to exist. It exists anyway — and that's the point. Mercedes revealed the prototype earlier this year, and an India launch is expected in Q4 2026 around ₹4 crore. It will be offered with both the electric 116 kWh powertrain and the 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol. Almost certainly the car that sells out fastest.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS — Now Built in India

The Maybach GLS began local assembly at Mercedes' Chakan plant near Pune in 2026 — making India the first country outside the US to assemble the ultra-luxury SUV. The result: price dropped from ₹3.17 crore to ₹2.75 crore for the standard variant. The Celebration Edition at ₹4.10 crore is the most exclusive version yet. Local production is a signal about how seriously Mercedes views India long-term.

S-Class PHEV, AMG E 53, and the software story

The S-Class facelift confirms a June 15 India launch, notable for being the first S-Class with a plug-in hybrid option in India, estimated at ₹1.95 crore. The AMG E 53 PHEV follows, with a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to a 28.6 kWh battery capable of 100 km of electric-only range. A GLC EV and refreshed GLE are also expected before year-end.

"2026 is about value over volume. Every launch needs to justify itself." — Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India

MB.OS — debuting in the CLA EV — is Mercedes' answer to a problem the entire industry faces: cars are now software products, and most manufacturers are running software built by someone else on hardware they control. MB.OS changes that, enabling over-the-air updates, in-car app ecosystems, and personalisation that persists across vehicles. The honest caveat: quarterly price revisions are likely due to Euro-INR volatility.
