VinFast VF6: Features, Variants, and Price in India

The VF6 is VinFast's entry point into India — a compact, 5-seater electric SUV roughly the size of a Hyundai Creta, locally assembled at the brand's new Thoothukudi factory, and priced aggressively enough to sit right in the middle of a genuinely crowded segment. It's also the car most responsible for VinFast's early India momentum, since it undercuts several established rivals while matching or beating them on range and safety kit.
Design: a coupe-SUV silhouette from Torino Design
The VF6 is styled by Torino Design, with a coupe-like roofline that gives it a sportier stance than most compact EV SUVs in its price bracket. Up front, V-shaped LED daytime running lights trace into the bonnet — a deliberate nod to VinFast's logo — paired with projector LED headlights and an EV-typical closed-off grille. It rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and is offered in six exterior colours: Zenith Grey, Urban Mint, Jet Black, Infinity Blanc, Desat Silver, and Crimson Red.
The single battery, two power outputs
Every VF6 variant shares the same 59.6 kWh battery pack, but power output differs by trim — either 177 hp or 204 hp, both driving the front wheels only (no all-wheel-drive option is offered on the VF6 in India). The 0-100 km/h sprint takes roughly 8.9 seconds. Claimed range varies by variant between 463 and 468 km on the MIDC/ARAI test cycle, though real-world figures reported by early owners have run meaningfully lower — some closer to 350-380 km, and a few significantly less in heavy city use, which is worth factoring in rather than planning solely around the claimed number.
All variants share the identical 59.6 kWh battery — the difference between trims is tuning and motor output, not battery size.
Variant by variant
The entry point, and still comes with a genuinely long feature list for a base trim — 7 airbags, hill-start assist, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and a 12.9-inch touchscreen. The all-black cabin uses vegan leather upholstery throughout.
Steps up to the 204 hp motor tune and adds Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and a Mocha Brown and Black two-tone cabin option alongside the standard all-black scheme.
The range-topper adds a panoramic glass roof — fitted with an India-specific retractable curtain to manage cabin heat — plus heated and ventilated front seats and a head-up display.
Safety: a genuinely strong showing for the segment
The VF6 carries 7 airbags as standard across every trim — not just the top variant, which is still not universal at this price point in India. It pairs that with hill-start assist, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS (on Wind and above), plus a Bharat NCAP rating that scored 27.13 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 44.41 out of 49 for child occupant protection.

The free-charging perk is genuinely generous on paper, but it comes with a real caveat worth knowing before you factor it into your buying decision: it's only valid at VinFast's own proprietary V-Green charging network, which had just over 100 functional stations across the entire country as of 2026 — meaning it's a solid perk for home-city charging but not something to rely on for long-distance trips yet.
Who it actually competes with
The VF6 sits in genuinely fierce company: the BYD Atto 3, Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor EV, and MG ZS EV all occupy similar territory, alongside the newer Maruti e Vitara. Against that field, the VF6's combination of standard 7-airbag safety, a long feature list even at base trim, and aggressive pricing gives it a real value argument — the main tradeoffs buyers are weighing are an unproven long-term service network against established rivals with years of India-specific reliability data already public.
