If the VF6 is VinFast's volume play in India, the VF7 is its statement car — a 5-seater, mid-size electric SUV that undercuts most all-wheel-drive EVs in the market by a wide margin, while still posting genuinely quick performance numbers and a 5-star safety rating. It's the model VinFast is using to prove it can compete on substance, not just price.
The most affordable way into an AWD EV in India
VinFast markets the VF7 as India's most affordable EV with an all-wheel-drive option — a genuine claim, given how few electric SUVs offer AWD anywhere near this price point.
The VF7's standout technical claim is real: it's currently one of the most affordable ways to get into an all-wheel-drive electric SUV in India. That AWD setup is reserved for the top two trims and pairs with the larger battery for genuinely strong performance — a 0-100 km/h time of just 5.8 seconds, the quickest in its segment by VinFast's own positioning.
Two batteries, three drivetrain configurations
Unlike the VF6's single-battery approach, the VF7 offers a genuine choice: a 59.6 kWh pack on the base Earth trim producing 177 hp in front-wheel-drive, or a larger 70 kWh pack on Wind and Wind Infinity trims producing 204 hp, still front-wheel-drive. The top Sky and Sky Infinity trims pair the larger battery with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, producing a combined 349 hp and 500 Nm of torque.
Variant by variant
59.6 kWh battery, 177 hp, front-wheel-drive. Comes with cruise control, an electronic parking brake, and 7 airbags as standard — though Level 2 ADAS is notably not included at this base trim.
Steps up to the larger 70 kWh battery and 204 hp motor, delivering the range-topping 532 km claimed figure — the highest of any VF7 trim, including the AWD versions above it. Level 2 ADAS becomes standard from this trim upward.
Dual-motor AWD, 349 hp combined, 5.8-second 0-100 km/h. Trades a little range for genuine performance — still a strong 510 km claimed figure despite the extra motor and all-wheel-drive hardware.

It backs that up with 7 airbags as standard across the range, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS on every trim except the base Earth.

The 537-litre boot is genuinely generous for the segment, and the India-specific cabin tweaks — remote AC activation, ventilated seats, and enhanced air filtration — are clearly aimed at Indian summer conditions rather than a generic global spec sheet.
Who it competes with
VinFast positions the VF7 against the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and the upcoming BYD Sealion 7 — genuinely premium company for a brand with zero prior India track record. Other listings place it against the Tata Harrier EV, Tata Sierra EV, and Mahindra BE 6. Against that field, the VF7's core argument is straightforward: AWD performance and a 5-star safety rating at a price point where most rivals offer only front-wheel-drive.
